Shenmao railway starts from shenzhen airport east station in the east, passing through dongguan humen, guangzhou nansha, zhongshan, jiangmen and yangjiang, and ends at maoming station with a total length of 390.1km. It is the first rapid railway connecting the core cities of the pearl river delta with the western region of guangdong, which is of great significance to further improve the main railway network of guangdong province, strengthen the connection between the pearl river delta region with the western region of guangdong and even the beibu gulf region and hainan, promote the rapid development of the guangdong-hong kong-macao greater bay area and the revitalization of the western region of guangdong. The project is designed according to the standard of two - line electrified passenger and cargo lines. The jiangmao section is designed to operate at a speed of 200 km/h, while the shenjiang section is designed to operate at a speed of 250 km/h. In 2012, it was included in the national plan for comprehensive transportation system of the 12th five-year plan column 6.
